Key Features
- Suitable for both Interior and Exterior use
- Water, Stain, abrasion and heat resistant
- Ultra hard
- Does not blister or peel
- Food and child safe
Preparation
Remove all traces of old finishes, dirt, oil, wax and grease. These may have impregnated the surface and can cause failure. Sand in direction of the grain to provide a key. Thoroughly clean after sanding. Instructions in the technical data sheet must be followed. Ensure the product is well mixed but do not shake.
Application
Apply 2 to 3 coats of varnish, with a good quality brush. On new softwood and porous surfaces dilute the first coat 10% with water. Lightly sand wood in between applications to remove any raising of the grain.
For a dead flat finish with high durability and stain resistance, apply two coats of satin followed by one of dead flat.

![]() | Question: Hi there, I see that I can use this on painted patio slabs. Could you advise how soon after painting/stencilling can I apply please? Many thanks Debbie |
Answer: Hello Debbie, The varnish will be fully cured after 16 hrs in ideal conditions and its advised 48 hrs before any heavy usage, so would allow at least 48 hrs before any stenciling. We would also advise to do a test patch beforehand to make sure of no reaction with the paint you are using over the Polyvine. Best regards, Holman Paints Team.
![]() | Question: Can this be used on paving slabs/patios that have been painted please? |
Answer: Yes, Polyvine Heavy Duty Extreme varnish would be suitable for painted stone slabs. We would recommend a light sand of the surface to create a key then apply two coats of the varnish. Once applied the varnish will take approximately 16 hours to cure and reach full hardness.
