About Polyvine Heavy Duty Floor Varnish
An ultra hard, high quality coating with a satin or dead flat finish that dries to a crystal clear film with extremely good sanding properties allowing a very high quality of finish to be obtained. Formulated for floors and areas of high wear.
When using dead flat finish, if a very high level of durability and stain resistance is required, apply one or two coats of Floor Varnish Satin Finish followed by one or two coats of Floor Varnish Dead Flat Finish.

Preparation
Thoroughly sand in the direction of the grain to remove all traces of old finishes and dirt, oil and contamination. Old floors can be impregnated with wax and grease - this will cause failure and must be completely removed. On new wood or if the old finish is in good condition, lightly sand to provide a key. Thoroughly clean after sanding.
Application
Ensure the product is well mixed. Apply 3 coats of varnish. On new wood and porous surfaces dilute the first coat 10% with water. Lightly sand wood in between applications to remove any raising of the grain that may have occurred.

Thomas Young | Question: Does polyvine heavy duty floor varnish have any UV protection? I'm thinking of using it in a conservatory on previously varnished oak flooring. Thanks. |
Answer: Hello Thomas, Whilst the Heavy Duty would be a good option it would be recommended to use the Polyvine Heavy Duty Extreme Varnish as this does contain complete UV protection. This product can also be found on our website along with the technical data sheet that will give the best guidance on prep and application. Kind regards, Holman Paints. | |
