Ross | Question: Hello Does this require an undercoat on a previously glossed staircase? |
Answer: Hello, It would be recommended to wash down the surface and fully sand the whole surface. Any areas in poor condition or back to bare wood you could prime with Otex. After this prep two coats overall would be needed. The full data sheet can be downloaded on the page to give a more detailed guidance on prep and application. Best regards, Holman Paints Team.
JANE GLOSSOP | Question: Can this be used for aluminium house signs that will be in all weather conditions? |
Answer: Hello, Yes the Miranol is fine to be used on exterior applications in all weather conditions. When applying to Aluminium you will need to use a suitable primer, the Rostex Super Metal Primer is ideal. Best Regards, Holman Specialist Paints
Philip | Question: Is this suitable for exterior stone work? To inlay engraved lettering on slate more specifically. |
Answer: Miranol is a very good choice to provide a high gloss finish for masonry, just make sure the surface to be painted is clean and free from anything that would affect adhesion. Two coats of Miranol would be sufficient. Clean brushes with white spirit after use.
Paul Chater | Question: Can you use Miranol on cast Perspex. |
Answer: Miranol can be applied direct to plastics, but for best results it is recommended to apply a coat of Otex Adhesion Primer first. See link for Otex: https://holmanpaints.co.uk/exterior-wood/138-tikkurila-otex-high-performance-adhesion-primer-undercoat.html It would be advised to lightly abrade the surface and make sure it is clean and dry before painting.
