About Tikkurila Otex Adhesion Primer

Otex Adhesion Primer is a matt, quick-drying, special resin-based primer and undercoat. It can also be used as a stain-blocking primer and be tinted to any colour to match your topcoat and create a better depth of colour.

Otex is suitable for both interior and exterior, and can be applied on most types of surface including:

Wood
Glass
Tiles
Glass-fibre
PVC Plastic
Aluminium
Zinc Coated Sheet Metal
Surfaces previously coated with Alkyd or Acid Catalysed Paints

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, rust, loose material and surface contamination. Use Tikkurila products for mould removal and cleaning. Treat knots and resinous areas with Tikkurila Knotting Lacquer and a good quality wood filler for filling cracks, nail holes and blemishes. Ensure that existing painted and filled surfaces are thoroughly sanded smooth. Roughen aluminium, sheet metal and tiled surfaces with abrasive paper and if necessary mechanically abrade.

Application and Thinning

Brush, roller or spray.

For airless spray: use a 0.011” – 0.015” spray tip and thin by up to 10% with spray thinner.

Thinning: Thin if necessary for brush and roller application thin by up to 5% with white spirit.

	Answer: Hello, Yes the Otex is suitable as a primer and intermediate coat for both new and previously painted surfaces. Otex adheres well to surfaces that require special adhesion, such as glass, tiles, fiberglass, PVC plastic, aluminum, zinc coated sheet metal and surfaces painted with alkyd and acid-cured paints. 	Answer: Otex Adhesion Primer is a single pack, solvent based, adhesion primer that is suitable for priming and undercoating both new and previously painted surfaces. Otex adheres well to difficult substrates like glass, tiles, glass fibre, melamine, PVCplastic, aluminium, zinc coated sheet metal and surfaces coated with alkyd and acid-curing paint. Suitable also for wood, wood fibre board, chipboard and metal surfaces in dry interior premises. Suitable for bare and previously coated softwood and hardwood, interior and exterior.

	Answer: Yes, just make sure to allow the full 24hrs re-coat time (at 23c) before applying the water based topcoat.
