Tikkurila Empire Oil Based Interior Wood Paint

Tikkurila Empire is a hard wearing traditional solvent borne eggshell for interior use. It levels well to ensure a smooth finish. Empire is ideal for brush application and is recommended for furniture, doors, wood and metal trim.

Preparation and Application

The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5°C, and conditions the relative humidity of the air below 80%.

New unpainted surfaces: Remove dirt, dust and grease from unpainted surfaces. Prime with Otex Adhesion Primer. Prime steel, zinc or aluminium surfaces with Rostex Metal Primer. Note: aluminium surfaces in interior humid rooms should be primed with Rostex Super Metal Primer.

Previously painted surfaces: Wash down previously painted surfaces with Cleaning Agent (Maalipesu), rinse carefully with water and allow to dry. Remove loose paint with a scraper and sand the whole surface. Remove sanding dust. Fill holes and cracks with a good quality wood or metal filler. Prime, if necessary, with Otex Adhesion Primer.

Empire does not need to be stirred before use. If you have to stir Empire - e.g. when thinning - let the paint become gelatinous before application.

For brush application, thin Empire with White Spirit 1050 and for spray application with Spray Thinner 1032. Apply by brush or spray 1-2 times.
