About Tikkurila Rostex Super Metal Primer

A quick-drying anti-corrosion primer for use on interior and exterior metal substrates. It is suitable for protecting metalwork where normal alkyd primers may be insufficient. Rostex Super Metal Primer is ideal for priming steel, zinc-coated metal, roughened aluminium surfaces and as a general primer for alkyd and waterborne paints.

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, water-soluble salts, white rust, rust and loose material. Use recommended Tikkurila products for mould removal and cleaning. Ensure that existing painted surfaces are thoroughly sanded. Abrade aluminium surfaces to create a key. Where possible prime new zinc-coated surfaces after a period of weathering (at least one year).

Application and Thinning

Brush or spray.

For airless spray: use a 0.015” – 0.021” spray tip.

Thinning: if necessary by up to 15% with a good quality white spirit.
