About Sikkens Kodrin WV 472 Semi-Transparent Sealer 

A semi-transparent, highly elastic sealer for parapet V-joints (max. radius 3 mm), especially V-joints of wooden windows and doors that protects against the ingress of moisture.

It can be used on translucent and opaque paint systems for interior and exterior applications.

Parapet joints on windows and doors are joints where the haunches i.e. end grain meets the rail and are normally not longer than 10cm.  

The sealer is not suitable for other construction joints.

Application Method

The sealer is applied in the joint with the help of a standard 310ml skeleton gun into the clean dust free parapet V-joint and consequently wiped clean with the finger.

It is recommended to wear a light glove.  

Coverage rage is approximately  50 ml / running metre of V-joint.  

Do not thin  

Application temperature 15-25 °C for substrate, air and material at approx.60 % R.H.  

Drying Times  

The drying process of the material can be delayed depending of applied wet film thickness and when using timber with a high extract contents and drying in damp/cold weathering conditions.

During the drying process ensure adequate ventilation and temperature conditions.  

At normal climate 23°C/50% R.H. DIN 50014 after fully dried and ideally overnight, overcoat with waterborne coatings.   

Coating recommendation

The sealer is applied after thorough drying of the primer and midcoat on a clean, dust and grease free V-joint.

After the sealed joint is dry it can be coated with all Sikkens mid and topcoat finishing systems. 

Cleaning of equipment  

Clean directly after use with water or with Sikkens ST 830 Cleaning Solution.
