About Teknos Nordica Classic, Semi Matt, Opaque Wood Paint
Teknos Nordica Classic is a long lasting, semi-matt water-borne, opaque wood paint for exterior application.
It provides a highly durable solid colour finish for all exterior wooden surfaces for efficient protection against the elements.
It forms a thin paint film that leaves the wood’s grain and structure more visible.
Ideal for redecoration and finishing new timber cladding, log cabins, jetty, terraces, fences and garden furniture. and faded previously wood stained surfaces.
Suitable also for use on new and press-impregnated wood.
Surface Preparation
New wooden surfaces:
For best results treat the surface as soon as possible.
The pre-treatments, impregnation and priming would be best done in the warmer /drier months.
Remove any loose matter, dirt and dust.
Wash dirty and/or mildewed surfaces with RENSA FACADE facade cleaner.
Brush the detergent into the surface and leave it to take effect.
Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely.
Treat the wooden surface with Teknos Woodex Aqua Base Plus Penetrating Priming Oil.
Allow to dry for one day.
Treat end grains with Teknos End Grain Sealer to minimise water ingress.
Once dry prime with Nordica Classic diluted by up to 10 % by volume or with one coat of NORDICA PRIMER.
Drying time is 1–3 day depending on the temperature and humidity of the air.
Previously painted or old wood surfaces:
Replace or repair wooden parts that are in poor condition.
Remove loose matter, loose or poorly adherent paint or priming oil as well as greyed and denatured timber by scraping, wire brushing (non ferrous) or by mechanical means.
The adhesion of an old, thick paint layer to the substrate may have been weakened so much that the paint should be removed even if it seems intact.
Avoid unnecessary damaging of the wooden surface.
Wash surfaces with RENSA FACADE facade cleaner.
Brush the detergent into the surface and leave it to take effect.
After this rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely.
Application
Before use, stir the paint thoroughly.
The paint may be thinned with water 5 - 10% by volume in warm weather to assist application.
Dilution may, however, impair the coverage of the paint.
In order to avoid colour differences when painting large uniform surfaces, paint of the same tinting batch should be used for the whole surface and/or mix sufficient amount of paint into the same vessel.
Apply two coats of Nordica Classic by brush or spray.
When spray painting, finish the wet painted surface with a brush.
Recommended nozzle size for airless spray is 0.017–0.021”.
Avoid overly thick paint films on log surfaces.
Application Conditions
The surface to be painted must be dry.
The moisture of the wood must be below 20 % of the dry weight of the wood.
During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the paint shall be above +5 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.
Avoid application in direct sunlight. If the temperature of the surface to be painted exceeds +40 °C, the application properties and the adhesion of the paint may deteriorate
Storage
Must be stored tightly closed and kept cool. MUST NOT FREEZE.
