Provides long term water and chemical resistance.
It has good weathering and durability retaining its performance over an extended period.
Quick to dry it is ideally suited for the finishing of structural steelwork and galvanised components.
When used as a primer, Guard CZ is suitable to be overcoated with most single pack topcoats such as Guard HBV and Guard SCF.

About Guard CZ Heavy Duty Zinc Rich Primer

When used as a primer, Guard CZ is suitable to be overcoated with most single pack topcoats such as Guard HBV and Guard SCF.
Preparation
Surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and free from any material such as oil, grease, salts and dirt that might affect adhesion.
Remove loose flaking or friable material.
Where necessary, remove weld spatter and grind smooth all rough,sharp edges and weld seams.
Galvanised steel
Thoroughly degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and lightly abrade any very shiny areas.
Mild Steel
Degrease with a Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade
Phosphate Steel
Degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade prior to application of the Primer.
Stainless Steel
Degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade prior to application of the Primer.
Aluminium and Alloys
Degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade prior to application of the Primer.
The temperature of the ambient air, surface or paint should not fall below 5ºC during application or drying.
Application Conditions
Relative humidity should not exceed 80%.
The surface temperature of the steel should remain at least 3ºC above the dew point.
Cold damp conditions will impair drying times and the final finish.

Airless Spray
Output fluid pressure at tip 2000-2500 psi Mpa,
Tip Size 18-21 thou
Conventional Spray;
Thin with up to 10% added 3%-5% at a time.
Brush / Roller
Please note: application by brush will result in a reduced film thickness and is recommended only for small areas of touch up/remedial work. Brush application may leave brush marks.
Drying times at a WFT at 250µm and 23ºC
Dust Dry: 45 minutes
Recoatable: After 12 hours
Hard Dry: 4 hours
Full cure: 8 hours
