About Teknos Futura 15% / 40% / 90% gloss Oil Based Paint for Wood
Futura paints are high performance, urethane alkyd furniture paints that are thixotropic and therefore easy to apply.
Available in Semi-matt (Futura 15), Semi-gloss (Futura 40), Full Gloss (Futura 90).
Futura 15 (Semi-matt) is for painting wooden and primed metal detached furniture indoors.
Futura 40 (Semi-gloss) and Futura 90 (Full Gloss) are both suitable for top coating wooden and primed metal surfaces on detached furniture both indoors and outdoors. Note: Futura 40 - avoid using dark colours outdoors.
Surface Preparation
The surface to be painted must be clean. Wash previously painted surfaces with RENSA SUPER paint cleaner. Remove loose and poorly adherent paint coats. Matt down hard or gloss surfaces by sanding and thereafter remove the dust. Use Futura 3 Adhesion primer to prime unpainted wooden, chipboard and also surfaces that have been painted with alkyd, oil or acid-curing paint. Stop up pits and crevices with carpentry Filler. Matt down the surfaces and remove the dust.
In addition, for Futura 15 remove loose old paint from interior metal surfaces by scraping and wire-brushing.
Clean off all rust with wire-brush.
Wash the surfaces with white spirit. Prime steel surfaces with Futura 3 Primer and zinc-coated and aluminium surfaces with Kirjo.
Topcoat all metal surfaces with 1 - 2 coats of Futura 15.
Application
Futura 40 and 90
Prime the metal surfaces with Anticorrosive Paint. Prime unpainted wooden and chipboard and surfaces that have been painted with alkyd, oil or acid-curing paint with FUTURA 3 Adhesion primer.
Futura 15, 40 and 90
The paints are thixotropic and must be stirred thoroughly before use. Apply by brush, roller or spray. Suitable airless spray nozzle is 0.011 - 0.013". When applying by spray, thin the paint 5 - 15 % by volume with TEKNOSOLV 9500. When a second coat is required, it can be applied on the following day.
Application Conditions
The surface to be painted has to be dry. During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the paint should be above +5 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.
