New Guard, Guard FEB is a high quality, brush applied fast drying gloss enamel for metal, especially agricultural, machinery and appliance equipment.

It has good weathering and durability retaining its gloss and colour over an extended period.

Quick to dry it is ideally suited for the finishing of structural steelwork and provides as very hard and tough finish.

Withstands tempertures up to 170C.

Apply by brush, roller or conventional spray. 

Available in any colour and a Gloss finish.

About Guard FEB Fast Drying Enamel for Metal

New Guard, Guard FEB is a high quality fast drying gloss enamel for metal, especially agricultural, machinery and appliance equipment.  

Quick to dry it is Ideally suited for the finishing of structural steel over selected ViterPrime primers.

Used on agricultural machinery and earth moving equipment (ACE market).

Apply by brush,roller or conventional spray. 

Preparation

Surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and free from any material such as oil, grease, salts and dirt that might affect adhesion.

Remove loose flaking or friable material. 

Where necessary, remove weld spatter and grind smooth all rough,sharp edges and weld seams.

Galvanised steel

Thoroughly degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and lightly abrade any very shiny areas. 

Mild Steel 

Degrease with a Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade or blast clean to Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007

Phosphate Steel 

Degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade prior to application of the Primer.

Stainless Steel

Degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade prior to application of the Primer.

Aluminium and Alloys

Degrease with Cleaner Degreaser (Product Reference H30 or ND14) and manually abrade prior to application of the Primer.

The temperature of the ambient air, surface or paint should not fall below 5ºC during application or drying.

Application Conditions

Relative humidity should not exceed 80%. 

The surface temperature of the steel should remain at least 3ºC above the dew point.

Cold damp conditions will impair drying times and the final finish.

Recommended Film weight: WFT 100-150µm

Theoretical coverage rate: 10m² per litre at a WFT 100µm

Guard FEB can be applied by the following methods.

Airless Spray: No

Conventional Spray: Yes

Brush: Yes  

Roller: Yes

Application Guidance 

Conventional Spray;

Thin with up to 10% added 3%-5% at a time.

Brush / Roller 

Thin with up to 5%

Please note: application by brush will result in a reduced film thickness and is recommended only for small areas of touch up/remedial work. 

Drying times at a WFT at 100µm and 23ºC 

Dust Dry: 2 hours

Recoatable: 12 hours

Hard Dry: 4 hours 

Full cure: 12 hours

Cleaning Tools and Equipment

Clean equipment with Guard Solvent A Thinner after use

% Volume Solids : 50%

VOC content : 450g / litre
