About Rust-Oleum Hygienic Topcoat 8300
Solvent Based Hygienic Topcoat 8300 is fast drying and non-yellowing. It can be applied on mineral substrates and resist mild chemical exposure, occasional product spillage, frequent chemical cleaning, intermittent high humidity and moisture.
8300 Hygenic Topcoat is classified Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame according to BS 476; part 7:1987.
New concrete, plastered or brick surfaces should cure and dry for at least 30 days prior to the application of coatings.
Remove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations with ND14 Cleaner Degreaser or high pressure (steam) cleaning.
Sand previous coatings, which are in good condition to remove gloss and to roughen the surface to create a key.
Remove non-adhering old coatings.
The surface must be clean and dry during application.
Application and Thinning
Brush: from -10 to 5°C 10-15 vol. %; Thinner 633.> 5°C Up to 10 vol. %; Thinner 633. Use brushes based on a mixture of synthetic/natural bristles.
Roller: from -10 to 5°C 10-15 vol. %; Thinner 633> 5°C Up to 10 vol. %; Thinner 633 Use medium pile polyamide (perlon 8-12 mm.) rollers. Roller application may require 2 coats to achieve recommended dry film thickness.
Air-atomised spray: from -10 to 5°C Up to 10 vol. %; Thinner 160 > 5°C 10-15 vol. %; Thinner 633 Gravity cup and pressure cup. Tip size: 1.2 -1.8 mm. Atomising pressure: 2 - 4 bar.
Airless spray: from -10 to 5°C Up to 10 vol. %; Thinner 160 > 5°C up to 15 vol. %; Thinner 633 Pneumatic and electric airless equipment. Tip size: 0.011-0.017 inch. Fluid pressure: 150 - 200 bar. Low temperatures may affect the atomising properties.
