Preparation and Application
Wooden Floors Preparation
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, rust, loose material and surface contamination. Use recommended Tikkurila products as cleaning agents and for mould removal. Treat knots and resinous areas on timber floors with Tikkurila Knotting Lacquer. Use a good quality filler for filling cracks, nail holes, blemishes and for levelling uneven surfaces. Ensure that existing painted and filled surfaces are thoroughly sanded smooth.
Wooden Floors Priming and Painting
On Bare Wood Surfaces apply 1-2 Coats of Helmi Primer, Finish with 2-3 coats of non-diluted Betolux Akva.
Note: The paint will dry quickly, so plan work ahead of time to avoid paint joints. Apply lengthwise to several planks at once and only make repairs when the paint has dried.
Note: Discoloration of paint, especially noticeable within light colours, may occur over knots and resinous areas present in the wood. Prime all bare metal and potential rust spots with Rostex Super Metal Primer.
