About Sikkens Cetol WP 511 High Performance Base Stain
Sikkens Cetol WP 511 replaces Cetol WP 510 high performance base stain and represents the very best in high quality, translucent, water-borne and moisture vapour permeable coatings.
It provides the perfect platform for Sikkens Semi-transparent finishes, Cetol WF 905, WF 910 and WF 915
Colours are available from the Standard Sikkens semi-transparent and Joinery Color Classics Collection.
Please note - medium to highly pigmented translucent colours are more weather-resistant than low pigmented colours.
Colourless coatings are not suitable for outdoor use.
On timber rich in extractives, e.g., oak, larch or tropical wood, discolouration may occur – partially only as a result of weathering. Please call for advice on these timbers.
Application

Coverage rate
20m²/litre, depending on the porosity of the timber.
Ready to use but can be thinned with water to a maximum of 5% by volume
Application temperature
15 - 25 °C for substrate, air and material at approx. 60 % R.H.
Drying times at 23°C / 50% RH
Dust dry, approximately 30 minutes
Sandable approximately 4 hours
Recoatable approximately 4 - 6 hours
The drying process of the coating depends on the applied film thickness and may be delayed when using timber with a high extractive contents or drying in damp/cold conditions.
During the drying process, always ensure for adequate temperature and ventilation.
If the drying conditions are not met, damages within the coating cannot be excluded.
Cleaning of equipment
Clean with water immediately after use with water or Sikkens ST 830 Cleaning Solution.
