Helo Aqua is a waterborne special varnish. It is particularly easy to use and is highly durable. The varnish is easy to apply and dries quickly. An overcoat can be added in as soon as one hour, allowing several coats to be applied in one day.
Available in three gloss levels - semi-matt, semi-gloss and gloss. All gloss levels are suitable for treating wooden surfaces both indoors and out.
Indoors, the various gloss levels of Helo Aqua are suitable for varnishing all wooden surfaces, such as wooden floors and stairs, doors, kitchen units, furniture, and wall and ceiling panels.
Outdoors, tinted Helo Aqua can be used for the transparent varnishing of doors and window frames, among other surfaces. Helo Aqua leaves a beautiful, smooth finish and, when tinted, gives a deep transparent colour to wooden surfaces.
The wooden surface must be dry, carefully sanded and cleaned from dust and other impurities. Stir the relevant HELO AQUA finishwell both before use and between the applications, but be careful not to let air into the varnish.
Untreated parquets and wooden plank floors: Prime with 15 % diluted HELO AQUA 80 using brush, trowel or roller. Finish with 2 - 3 coats of the relevant HELO AQUA finish 20,40 or 80 being used, using brush or trowel. Spread out the varnish in the direction of the pattern and the grain of the wood. Previously varnished floors: It is recommended that the surfaces are sanded to bare wood and that the instructions above for untreated parquet and wooden plank floors are followed. If the old varnished coat is in good condition the HELO AQUA varnish 20,40 or 80 can be applied according to the instructions for finishing to a surface that has been carefully sanded (sanding paper no. 150 or finer). In this case, however, the varnish is first to be tested on a small area to ensure proper adhesion. Stairs and furniture: Brush application is recommended for stairs and furniture. Prime with HELO AQUA 80, if needed. Apply first a thin coat of HELO AQUA varnish being used 20, 40 or 80 and let it dry for at least one hour. Sand the surface and remove all sanding dust carefully. Apply a second coat of varnish and let dry for about 3 hours before applying the third coat. Note! For objects outdoors tinted varnish is recommended and avoid using on horizontal surfaces.
During the varnishing and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the varnish shall be above +10 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.
The varnish reaches its final hardness within 1 - 2 weeks. Hard abrasion is thus to be avoided during 2 weeks after the treatment.
