About Helo Aqua 20%, 40%, 80% gloss Waterbased Wood Lacquer
Helo is a range of fast drying urethane/alkyd based special varnishes with good resistance properties. The varnishes are suitable for varnishing all demanding woodwork indoors and outdoors.
They produce a varnish film which is hard and at the same time elastic and thus withstand abrasion and impacts. Detergents, grease or oil do not damage the varnish.
Available in three finishes – Matt (15%) , Semi-Gloss (40%) and Gloss (90%)
Examples of uses are wooden plank floors, furniture and other wooden surfaces whenever a durable varnish coat is desired.
Helo 40 and Helo 90 provide excellent resistance to action by weather and water. Both varnish films have good gloss retention and do not crack or disintegrate. Helo 40 and Helo 90 both protect the woodwork against greying and cracking.
Helo 15 is used for interior application only.
Helo 90 varnish contains a UV absorber and therefore the resultant coat yellows very little.
Surface Preparation
Clean the surfaces from grease and dirt. Wash varnished surfaces with RENSA SUPER paint cleaner. Matt down old, intact varnish coats. If the old varnish coat is brittle or flaking, it is removed by scraper and paint remover. Cautious burning off can also be used. Thereafter the surface is sanded and sanding dust is carefully removed. Objects that are intended for outdoor use are before the varnishing primed with clear WOODEX BASE priming oil. Sand the surface again before varnishing and remove the dust.
Application
Before use stir the varnish thoroughly down to the bottom of the can. Use always full gloss HELO 90 for priming and thin it by adding about 20% TEKNOSOLV 1621. Sand lightly and remove the dust before the top coating. Helo 15 and Helo 40 top coat undiluted by applying 1 - 3 coats. When top coating with undiluted HELO 90, apply three or four coats to yachts and other demanding woodwork. On internal woodwork two or three coatsof Helo 90 are sufficient.
Sand lightly and remove the dust between all varnish coats. Apply the varnish with a broad varnish brush. There must be good ventilation during the application and the drying period of the varnish. Note- For outdoor use tinted varnish is recommended.
Application Conditions
The surface to be varnished has to be dry. During the varnishing and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the varnish shall be above +10 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.
Maintenance
The varnished surface reaches its final hardness and washability within 3 - 4 weeks. Rough handling and washing is to be avoided during this period. Stained surfaces can be cleaned with a moist cleaning cloth or mop. Use a neutral detergent. Very dirty surfaces can later be cleaned with a slightly alkaline universal washing detergent.
