About Teknos Helo Aqua 20%, 40%, 80% gloss Waterbased Wood Lacquer
Teknos Helo Aqua is a range of fast drying waterbased polyurethene special lacquers with good resistance properties. They are suitable for all demanding woodwork, indoors and outdoors.
They produce a semi-transparent film which is hard and at the same time elastic and thus withstand abrasion and impacts. Detergents, grease or oil do not damage the finish.
Available in three finishes – Semi-Matt (20%), Semi-Gloss (40%) and Gloss (80%)
Examples of uses are wooden plank floors, window frames, doors, furniture and other wooden surfaces whenever a durable finish is required.
Helo Aqua provides excellent resistance to action by weather and water.
Also they have good gloss retention and do not crack or disintegrate.
Helo Aqua 20, 40 and Helo Aqua 80 protect the woodwork against greying and cracking.
Helo Aqua contain a UV absorber and therefore the resultant coat will not yellow.
Teknos Helo Aqua is suitable for application to wooden toys.
Surface Preparation
Clean the surfaces from grease and dirt. Wash varnished surfaces with RENSA SUPER paint cleaner. Matt down old, intact varnish coats. If the old varnish coat is brittle or flaking, it is removed by scraper and paint remover. Cautious burning off can also be used. Thereafter the surface is sanded and sanding dust is carefully removed. Objects that are intended for outdoor use are before the varnishing primed with clear WOODEX BASE priming oil. Sand the surface again before varnishing and remove the dust.
Application
Before use stir the varnish thoroughly down to the bottom of the can.
Sand lightly and remove the dust before the top coating.
Apply undiluted, 1-3 coats.
Sand lightly and remove the dust between all varnish coats.
Apply the lacquer with a brush manufactured for the application of waterbased products.
Ensure good ventilation during the application and the drying period.
Note - For outdoor applications it is strongly recommended to use Helo Aqua tinted to a semi-transparent shade to minimise the effect of UV degredation.
Application Conditions
The surface to be lacquered has to be dry. During the application and drying period, the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the lacquer should be above +10 °C and the relative air humidity below 80 %.
Maintenance
The lacquered surface reaches its final hardness and washability within 3 - 4 weeks. Rough handling and washing is to be avoided during this period. Stained surfaces can be cleaned with a moist cleaning cloth or mop.
Use a neutral detergent.
Very dirty surfaces can later be cleaned with a slightly alkaline universal washing detergent.
