About Tikkurila Valtti Ultra
The Tikkurila Ultra is a highly durable, low-odour, alkyd acrylate paint for use on exterior wooden surfaces. Offers long lasting weather resistance, and extended durability typically lasting for 8-10 years. The Ultra is flexible and moisture regulating and so it will not crack, peel, or blister. This extremely durable coating provides a low-maintenance finish.
Ideal for coating and redecorating:
- Timber Cladding
- Windows and Doors
- Log Cabins and Sheds
- Fencing and Garden Furniture
Tikkurila Ultra can be used for repainting surfaces previously coated with alkyd paint or wood stains.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, rust, loose material and surface contamination. Use Tikkurila mould removal and cleaning products. Use high quality fillers for filling cracks, nail holes, blemishes, etc. Ensure that existing glossy, gloss painted and filled surfaces are thoroughly sanded. Make sure that timber cladding, weatherboarding and timber glazing beads, etc. are adequately fastened with non-corrosive fixings. Note: Discoloration of paint especially noticeable within light colours may occur over knots and resinous areas present in the wood.
Particular attention with regards to preparation should be given to wood such as Oak, Teak, Cedar, Douglas Fir, Mahogany and Idigbo, etc., which contain oil and water-soluble tannin which may impair the drying, hardening or adhesion of surface coatings and discolour the finished surface.
Prime new bare wood overall and spot prime all bare areas on previously painted wood with Valtti Base Priming Oil. Use Otex Adhesion Primer on wood that contains substances which may ‘bleed through’ and cause staining to the finished surface. Prime all bare metal and potential rust spots with Otex Primer or Rostex Super.
Note: A priming coat of Valtti Base should be applied to all exterior wood which has not been pre-treated or vacuum impregnated with an approved preservative.
Apply liberally on end-grain.
