Waterborne semi-transparent matt wood finish for use on exterior wood. Available in many attractive colours, Valtti Akvacolor penetrates and enhances the natural beauty of wood whilst retarding the adverse effects of moisture, UV-light and microbial growth.
Timber cladding, weatherboarding, windows, facias, fencing, sheds, garden furniture, log cabins, etc.
Surface Preparation and Application.
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, oil, wax, loose material and surface contamination.
Use Tikkurila Mould Removal Solution and Cleaning Solution.
Fill cracks, joints, nail holes, with a good quality wood filler.
Ensure that existing glossy, previously stained and filled surfaces are thoroughly sanded to ensure adequate penetration in to the surface of the wood.
Make sure that timber cladding, weather boarding and timber glazing beads, etc., are adequately fastened with non-corrosive fixings.
Good quality non-setting glazing compounds which form a protective skin should be used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Particular attention with regards to preparation should be given to wood such as Oak, Teak, Cedar, Douglas Fir, Mahogany and Idigbo, which contain oil and water-soluble tannin which may impair the drying, hardening or adhesion and possible staining of surface coatings.
When coating new woodwork it is recommended that a priming coat of Valtti Base should be applied to all exterior wood which has not been pre-treated or vacuum impregnated with an approved wood preservative.
Apply liberally on end-grain.
Valtti Akvacolor is not recommended for use with linseed oil putty.
